What power should my air conditioning unit have?

You're probably thinking about purchasing an air conditioning unit that doesn't have high energy consumption.

Do you know which one you should buy?

We'll tell you, there are many brands and models, but for Pujol Clima, the most important thing is to install an air conditioning unit with the appropriate power for the area to be air-conditioned. Numerous factors come into play when calculating this:

  • Outside temperature.
  • The insulation of the building.
  • Surface of the walls, the ceiling.
  • The type of crystals.
  • Room orientation.
  • Exterior shadows.
  • Geographic location.
  • Time of year.
  • Construction materials.

How do I calculate?

In practice, the calculation of frigories is based on approximately 100 frigories per square meter, meaning a 40 m2 room would require a 4,000-frigorie unit. For a 60-square-meter space, I need a 6,000-frigorie system, and so on. Some recommend reducing this calculation by half to promote energy efficiency, that is, calculating approximately 50 frigories per square meter for more efficient air conditioning. This means installing a lower-power unit that will cool the room more gradually, maintaining a comfortable temperature for longer.

To achieve greater energy efficiency, Pujol Clima also recommends installing an air conditioner with inverter technology, which eliminates the need to constantly turn the unit on and off, promoting more efficient use. We'll discuss this technology in more detail in another post.

At Pujol Clima, we want to provide you with a very useful tool to calculate the power of the air conditioning unit you need to install. Just leave us your details and we'll send it to you.
